It was in March 1995, under the leadership of the then vicar, Rev.K.P.Sabu, 6780 sq.ft plot was purchased by Jerusalem Mar Thoma church, Anna nagar at Annai maria nagar, with korattur lake at its southern boundary.
In July 2007, under the leadership of Rev.Joseph Chacko, parish earmarked an amount of Rs.50,000 to commence mission activity in the surrounding villages of the above property. General body elected Mr.Mohan J. George as the convenor of the project.
In Oct 2007, Mr.Jacob Solomon was appointed as the evangelist for Korattur mission work.
Sunday school at the mission house was commenced in Jan 2008 for the village children. Parish named the project as Mar Thoma Jeeva oli and hired a small room at the madanagkuppam village as its base.
April 2012 saw our parish building and dedicating a mission house at our plot under the leadership of Rev.AT Zachariah. Tenure of Rev.Sajan P. Mathew as vicar found further strengthening of the mission house activities involving seviga sangam and youth of the parish.
Today, we conduct evening study classes for the village children at the mission house. We have Sunday school, spoken English classes, tailoring classes, weekly cottage prayers and various community development sessions at the mission house. Number of medical camps were also organized for the benefit of the poor. Noteworthy is the cancer screening camp conducted during 2014 under the auspicious of the jeevodaya medical team.
Core committee of the project with office bearers of the parish meets at the church at 7.30 am on all first saturdays under the leadership of the vicars. M/s. Mathew T. Oommen, Philip Tharakan, APJ Benjamin and Jacob Mathai serve as the core committee members with Mohan George as the convenor on a three-year term. M/s. Thomas Thampikutty and N.M Samuelkutty served in the first three year term.
With continuous prayer, we can dedicate our pooled resources for further development of the mission house in aid of the poor as also as a retreat centre.
